FOOD & WINE Wine Guide 2013 - Wine Tasting Intern

We are looking for one or two enthusiastic, organized interns to become a Wine Tasting Intern for FOOD & WINE Magazine's 2013 Wine Guide. This is an annual book published by FOOD & WINE that's distributed each fall around the country. From mid-January through April 30, our critic will be tasting 150-200 wines per week for evaluation and possible inclusion in the guide. We need help organizing wines to be tasted (inventorying wines that come in, pulling and opening bottles) and breaking down tastings afterwards.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about the world's greatest wines and wineries, plus get some great experience on his or her resume. This is not a paid position, but the Tasting Intern is welcome to tasting wines alongside our critic and to take home opened wines (if 21 years of age or over). Wines represent a broad overview of the world’s major wine regions, grapes and styles, and include only samples from a select list of top wineries. Tastings will take place mornings and afternoons, two to four days a week. The exact hours and days have some flexibility, but will generally be over by around 4:30 pm most days. Inventorying of the wines can take place at the intern’s convenience, Monday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm.

The ideal candidate will posses an avid interest in learning more about wine and be detail-oriented and organized. Candidates must commit 10 hours per week to the inventory and organization of samples. The intern must be 21 years of age or over to taste wine with our critic, and able to lift 35 pounds.
