Job Description
- Tribal Blues Band is looking for someone interested in joining our band family as a our sound person.
- TBB is a 9 piece Blues, Funk And Classic Rock band who gigs 1-3 times a month on average.
- The band doesn't do many bar type gigs. Mostly, concert, corporate, and charity events. For example, our last show was as an opening act at The Great American Music Hall in SF. Our next Gig is a charity event for the Lymphoma Walkathon under the Golden Gate Park bandshell, this Sunday, June 5th, 10-Noon unless we get rained out. Stop by and meet us if you like. We also have an AIDS Charity event coming up in Oakland for the mayor, and we're doing the Sausolito Jazz and Blues By The Bay show soon.
- We're willing to train the right person, but any previous experience will help. The band has it's own sound system, which while nothing major, is very nice and works well for most gigs. Many of our gigs have the sound system provided by promoter. For most shows which require us to use our own PA, we just set it and forget it, but it would be great if we could find another laid back person to run sound. You don't need to be exclusive to TBB, but we need someone who is available for our gigs, which we usually schedule months in advance. Shows will be primarily local, due to our jobs.
- No. we're just not looking for a roadie, though the sound person will help move equipment, like the rest of us. With 9 people in the band, we knock it out quick. We do have a couple band members who have vast experience as recording/live engineers in the area, so we will help get you up to speed.
- Finally, the band does rehearse each Wednesday, in S.SF. You don't need to attend rehearsals, unless you want. FYI, the room is small. Bring earplugs. Just being available for gigs is fine. We'll keep it real informal, low pressure, and most importantly, fun.
To Apply:
- Interested? Please send resume and note to Philippa Manley in Career Services at pmanley@aii.edu and I will send you over to Raya Zion to set up an interview.
