Seeking a comic book illustrator to pencil, ink (either actual ink or photoshop) and letter (in a clear, legible way) the first issue of an LGBT comic book series. An understanding of and respect for the LGBT community is essential. Looking for an illustrator experienced at drawing and lettering comic books who's excited and passionate about this project and can commit to completing the first issue in a timely manner.
While the illustrator will definitely have flexible hours, I'm seeking an illustrator who can steadily and efficiently focus on the project through completion of the first issue. This is necessary due to recent setbacks. They would be the only artist working on this issue. This would be a remote position. Directions would be given via email and phone.
The budget for the payment of the illustrator of the first issue was $700. This is based on funds which were specifically raised to pay the illustrator of the first issue. The second issue still on the works. I'd absolutely encourage them to use their work in their portfolios, and I think that could definitely be a selling point.
I'd always thought of comic books as being mostly hand drawn, but working with illustrators recently, I'm open to digital enhancement if that's what the illustrator normally utilizes. Essentially I just want to be proud of the final product.
This gig would be ideal for a talented artist just starting out who's looking to gain further experience and enhance their portfolio and make a bit of money in the process.
