Company Information:
CozyLap is a product that is designed to hold Tablet computing devices in your lap when in use. It will come with a plush hand sewn carrying bag. Right now the founder is fundraising for the design to be filed as a patent pending with the USPTO.
There is one twist to this. Have you ever seen someone panhandling with a sign that says "HOMELESS IN NEED OF HELP?" Did it make you wonder, why can't this guys/gals help themselves? The CozyLap is to our knowledge the first product that is designed and developed entirely by a bona fide homeless man (Marc Roth who has never held any such sign on the street, has no drinking or drug dependency nor mental illness). In that he has been unemployed and living without a home now for nearly 4 months. He currently lives in the MSC South a Saint Vincent DePaul society managed homeless shelter. He is mildly physically impaired, but thanks to Healthy San Francisco is able and willing to work a full work day with very little restriction. Unable to find work he dusted off an idea and put himself back to work. Although he can't pay himself yet. With what little money he had he was able to buy a starter membership at San Francisco's TechShop where he is currently refining his prototype and using their resources (including advanced computers provided by Adobe) to translate his dream into a reality. Tandem to launching this company and hiring as many homeless (vets too) as he can find, Marc is also intent on dedicating a sub site to foster re-induction into day to day living for other would be entrepreneurs that are currently living in shelters, on the streets, in vehicles or otherwise legitimately homeless.
